Course Description: Take your pencil for a walk, capture the essence, translate 3D to 2D and create highlights and shadows, you will walk away with 2 finished drawings. Instructor Bios: Carol & Ann joke that they have 50,000 years of experience teaching art, but seriously, they do have an impressive 37 years of art instruction between them. Both are practicing artists, illustrators and storytellers, this will be an entertaining class! Basket Weaving 101 Instructors Butch & Lesi Jarrell Monday, August 25th 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Cost: $20 pp – All Materials are included Maximum 10 participants Course Description: Complete your own Longaburger basket, using similar techniques and real maple wood, you will complete your own classic keepsake. Instructor Bios: Schroon Lake residents Butch & Lesi have been weaving baskets for over 10 years and have been teaching classes for many years at different Word of Life locations. They will provide you with everything you will need and the know how to complete your basket by evenings end. Make Your Own Mosaic Instructor Patti Mehm Sunday, September 21st & 28th 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Cost: $40 pp – Project materials and basic supplies included Maximum 8 participants Course Description: Participants will be able to choose from a few different entry level projects, such as a mirror, frame or platter. This is an entry level workshop which will provide a basic understanding of mosaic techniques and applications, using ceramic tiles, virtuous and stained glass, as well as “bits & pieces”, broken china and ceramics. The first class will be used to complete the layout and attachment of the design, the second class will complete the project with grouting and sealing. Instructor Bios: Store owner Patti Mehm is self taught with no teaching experience. She is hoping her knowledge of the skill and her passion for the craft will enable others to enjoy this ancient art form as much as she does. “These workshops will kick off the next phase of the expansion plans for the Gallery,” states store owner Patti Mehm. “With the gallery opening this year, we began the first phase by providing a platform to showcase the work of Adirondack and American artists, we are introducing a few workshops this season to get our feet wet, with an expanded schedule planned for the 2009 season”, explains Mehm.
